In early 2023, the Montana Lawmakers allocated monies to be used for the creation of local Innovative Charter Schools to assist students in preparing for life after high school. Libby Public Schools is currently operating an off-site high school alternative educational environment on the second story of the Central Administration Building. Our present funding limits our program structure and class offerings.
By taking advantage of the newly established Montana Innovative Charter School funding, Libby Public Schools has the opportunity to provide new academic programs for the community’s high school students in the tenth through twelfth grades who would benefit from a nontraditional educational experience. This Innovative Charter School opportunity will enhance our current Central Alternative School instructional format and focus on those students who are not currently enrolled in our district.
Libby Public Schools is not asking for additional funding from Libby or Lincoln County! We will receive funding from the Montana Board of Education upon approval of our charter proposal.
