Community and School

Libby is located in the Northwest corner of Montana, nestled at the base of the Cabinet Mountains in the heart of Kootenai National Forest.   The over 2-million-acre forest is host to 140 lakes, 3 major rivers, hundreds of streams and abundant wildlife for residents and tourists to enjoy.  Libby is a community of 2,758 people with surrounding population of about 12,000 and is the county seat for Lincoln County.

Libby High School, home of the Loggers, is an established four-year comprehensive education facility offering leading edge academic, technical, and occupational education programs.  Enrollment for the current year is 322 students.  The school year consists of two 18-week semesters.  Class periods are 60 minutes, 6 times a day; 5 days a week. The school also offers seniors many opportunities for internships in the community for on-the-job training. Logger territory is steeped in rich traditions that honor our heritage by teaching our students about logging in friendly competition each fall during homecoming competitions. Logger leaders “Earn Their Boots” by providing positive leadership in all areas of life, including character, scholarship, service, and competition, and always “Loggers Go First”.
