Things Worth Knowing

One of our District goals is 90% intellectual engagement.  Engaged students and intellectually engaged students are two very different things.  Mindlessly filling out a worksheet or copying information is not a focused learning event.  Intellectual engagement means that the work is meaningful and brains are on on task.  In the picture below, students in Mrs. Purdy's 7th grade math class are working on an application of math skills that were taught earlier in the week.  The task was challenging and students were intellectually engaged and applying what they had learned.  Nice job!   Ron Goodman - Superintendent
