The primary goal of Libby’s health enhancement curriculum is to expose students to as many of the components of the health enhancement state curriculum guide as time allows. There are ten areas in this guide: 1) mental and emotional health, 2) family and social health, 3) growth and development, 4) nutrition, 5) personal health and physical activity, 6) alcohol, tobacco, and other drugs, 7) communicable and chronic diseases, 8) consumer and community health, 9) environmental health, 10) injury prevention and safety.
The ninth grade curriculum spends most of the time in lifetime and dual sport activity, and injury prevention and safety with the American Heart Basic Life Support curriculum. Fitness is emphasized. Communicable and chronic diseases are also covered at the ninth grade.
